Well We Are Independent...Now that we are independent what are we to do? The burden of creating and operating a new central government is now in our hands. Already there are
several problems with this. First, anyone with any position of authority is looked upon
suspiciously. Second, there is no unity. Where patriots had fought in the war unified for
one cause, they Economically we are seeing hard times. With the British importing cut-rate goods into the marketplace, there is no place for American goods to be sold. In addition, the war has left the states, weak and decrepit. We are not lost though. At the least we have thirteen sovereign states which function similarly, and we are blessed with such political leaders as George Washington, James Madison, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Alexander Hamilton.
